Behind each structure is a story of constraint, opportunity, and persistence — stories worth sharing as a team.
We took the whole ARGALL team out of the office and onto the road, visiting a series of civic and community projects we’ve delivered across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
On paper, it was an excursion.
In practice, it was something far more valuable.
For most of us, the rhythm of practice means engaging with projects as drawings, models, calculations, or construction issues. We rarely get the chance to stand back and experience the built result as a whole — the atmosphere of a space, the way the structure quietly supports the architecture, or how the building has begun to embed itself in its community.
Walking through these places together was about legacy: seeing what remains after the design conversations are over and the site sheds are gone.
It was also about process. Every one of these projects carries the fingerprints of countless conversations, problem-solving sessions, and moments where site constraints forced us to think differently. Soil conditions, heritage interfaces, irregular geometries, delivery challenges — the quiet battles behind every clean line.
And just as importantly, it was about design. Each project expressed a unique architectural vision. Seeing how our engineering decisions either elevated or constrained that vision is vital if we’re to continue growing as a truly design-led practice.
Ultimately, this day was about embedding a shared design strength across our team — making sure every person at ARGALL can see the legacy of their work, understand the nuance in how we got there, and be equipped to push the next project further.
